UPDATE: 2 Juveniles Detained In Joliet After Cook County Carjacking
Upon search of this residence in the 800 block of Ewing Street, Joliet police say officers recovered three handguns and ammunition.

JOLIET – Joliet police say they recovered a rifle from inside the stolen Mercedes Benz that was taken during Friday's early morning carjacking in Cook County. Three more guns were confiscated from the house in the 800 Ewing Street where Joliet police say their officers tracked the suspects, a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy, both from Joliet.
Now, the 15-year-old boy is being kept at the River Valley Justice Center on charges of aggravated assault to a peace officer, fleeing and eluding a peace officer, resisting/obstructing a peace officer, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and criminal trespass to a vehicle.
The 16-year-old accomplice is also staying at the River Valley Justice Center where he faces three counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English:
At 12:25 p.m., Joliet police say their officers located the stolen Mercedes Benz in the 800 block of Ewing Street that was suspected to be involved in an aggravated carjacking near 107th Street and La Grange Road in Cook County. The 16-year-old boy exited the residence and was placed into custody.

Officers saw a male in the driver’s seat of the Mercedes Benz who appeared to be asleep.
As Officers approached the vehicle, the suspect placed the vehicle in drive and attempted to escape by driving around the police vehicles. While attempting to escape, the driver nearly struck an officer with his vehicle. An officer discharged their firearm but did not strike the suspect.
The suspect refused to stop, and a vehicle chase ensued. Officers pursued the vehicle to the area of Plainfield Road and Pennsylvania Avenue where the vehicle struck an unmarked Joliet Police Department squad car and continued to flee.
The pursuit ended in the 1700 block of Plainfield Road in Crest Hill after striking other vehicles not involved in the incident. The suspect ran from the vehicle and was quickly apprehended. The male driver arrested was identified as a 15-year-old juvenile. Officers recovered a rifle upon search of the vehicle.
In the 800 block of Ewing Street, the Joliet Police Department Special Operations Squad entered the residence and did not locate any additional suspects. Officers recovered three handguns and ammunition.
The officer driving the squad car that was struck by the fleeing suspect was taken to a local hospital by the Joliet Fire Department with minor injuries. No other injuries were reported from the incident. The officer in the shooting has been placed on administrative leave in accordance with departmental policy.
