Video: $215 Million Will County Courthouse Construction

The towering 10-story building is coming together. Aren't you thrilled?

JOLIET, IL - On Wednesday afternoon, as your Joliet Patch Editor was at the Will County Courthouse, I captured several photos and produced a short video of the $215 million construction project of the new Will County Courthouse. After all, it's your Will County government tax dollars at work. The county's new hall of justice is being built across from the current courthouse, here in downtown Joliet.

One visitor to the current courthouse, amazed by the project, asked me whether they were building a new downtown parking garage.

No, no, no, I informed the woman.

This new courthouse, several Will County politicians have proclaimed, will be an architectural gem for Joliet's downtown. It's going to be 10 stories high.

Anyway, it's fascinating to watch the construction taking place. The new courthouse is scheduled to be completed in 2020, and so far, the contractors are ahead of schedule.
