Arrest Near MIKE More Miles: Employee Saw Fighting In Street, Feared They Would Get Run Over
Joliet police took Daniel Davis away in handcuffs, but he put up a fight first, according to the court records.

JOLIET, IL —With Will County Judge Joan Meyers serving as the weekend judge at the Will County Courthouse, a Joliet man accused of violent conduct near the MIKE More Miles auto repair shop on Larkin Avenue has been returned back to the community.
The Will County State's Attorney's Office filed a petition hoping to keep Daniel Davis in the Will County Jail after he was charged with aggravated battery, domestic battery and resisting a peace officer. Judge Meyers disagreed with the prosecution's arguments and ordered Davis to regain his freedom under the SAFE-T-Act.
According to the prosecution's filing, a wild set of events unfolded last Friday at 8:01 a.m.

At first, Joliet police responded to the domestic disturbance near the AutoZone store at 857 North Larkin and when officers got there, they saw a man and a woman in a physical altercation in front of the nearby MIKE More Miles auto shop at 845 North Larkin.
The defendant, Daniel Davis, was grabbing the woman's shirt and the woman was grabbing his sweatshirt. Joliet police separated the two and Davis was ordered to stay in one place multiple times, but he did not comply, court records show.

"Davis was combative while tensing up his left arm and pulling away. A struggle ensued and the defendant was eventually placed into custody," prosecutors outlined.
One of the MIKE More Miles employees gave Joliet police a statement, revealing he saw Davis slap the woman on the sidewalk and she was trying to push away while Davis grabbed her and slapped her. The employee then saw Davis hit the woman at least twice, prosecutors noted. Davis and the woman ultimately began fighting in the middle of the street, and the employee feared they would get by a vehicle.
A customer of MIKE More Miles told Joliet police that as they pulled up to the scene, they saw the woman and Davis hitting each other in front of the Auto Zone store.
"The victim did not want to cooperate and would not give a statement or allow to be photographed," prosecutors informed Judge Meyers. "Davis was not cooperative during the booking procedure."
In her ruling, Judge Meyers ordered Davis to remain on home confinement at a residence in the 800 block of West Jefferson Street. He must also stay away from the woman he is accused of attacking.
