Visitation For Joliet Fire Lt. Shawn Carroll, 38, Begins Thursday Afternoon
Shawn Carroll impacted the lives of countless people around Joliet and outside the city.

JOLIET, IL - Funeral services for Lt. Shawn Carroll, a 38-year-old veteran paramedic at the Joliet Fire Department, have been scheduled for later this week. A wake will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Carlson Holmquist Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Road. A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Catholic Church on Woodlawn Avenue with burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, 23060 West Jefferson Street.
Carroll died Saturday afternoon after a courageous and long battle against cancer. A Joliet native, Carroll graduated from Joliet Catholic Academy, studied fire science at Joliet Junior College and engineering at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.
He was a member of the Joliet Fire Department for the past 17 years. Most recently, he was assigned to Truck 1 B-Shift. He was active on Joliet's Fire Investigations Team, the department noted.
