Vodka Bottle Strikes Victim, 58, In His Eye: Joliet Police

Around 1:30 p.m., Joliet police were called to the Riverside Center Apartments at 311 North Ottawa Street for a domestic disturbance.

JOLIET, IL — A 55-year-old Joliet woman was booked into the Will County Jail on Tuesday afternoon after Joliet police say she attacked one of her 58-year-old cousins, throwing a vodka bottle that hit him in the eye.

Joliet police were called to the domestic disturbance and took Cynthia Crowder away in handcuffs after she attacked one of the officers, police reports reflect.

Crowder was booked into the jail on charges of aggravated battery to a peace officer, domestic battery and criminal trespass to property. The location of the arrest, 311 North Ottawa Street, is a large high-rise apartment building managed by the Joliet Area Housing Authority.

"During an argument that took place in an apartment, Crowder grew angry and threw a plastic vodka bottle at the victim, striking him in the eye," Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English announced.

Crowder was still in the apartment when police tried to arrest her, and she hit one of the Joliet officers in the arm, English noted.

"Officers were then able to place her into custody without further incident. Crowder appeared intoxicated at the time of her arrest," English indicated.
