Walgreens Sued By Elderly Joliet Woman
The lawsuit was brought against the Walgreens store at 7851 Caton Farm Road, Plainfield mailing address.

JOLIET, IL - A Joliet woman who turns 85 years old this year has hired a Naperville law firm to sue Walgreens and the Walgreens Pharmacy following her mishap last October inside the store located in the 7800 block of Caton Farm Road. Giuseppa Maria Verone is being represented by attorney John J. Malm & Associates. The recently filed lawsuit at the Will County Courthouse accuses the Walgreens store of negligence and demands a jury verdict in excess of $50,000.
Walgreens "invited elderly patrons whom it knew, or reasonably should have known, would have difficulty safely sitting upon a lightweight wheeled rolling chair on a hard surface or tiled floor, onto its premises to receive, inter alia, influenza vaccinations," their lawsuit states.

On Oct. 19, 2017, the lawsuit alleges, Walgreens put the then-84-year-old Joliet woman into one of its "rolling chairs" in the vaccine administration room.

After Verone's fall, a Walgreens manager immediately rushed to her aid.
"That upon learning that Plaintiff had fallen to the floor while attempting to sit in the aforementioned chair, a store manager employed by Defendant Walgreen Co. appeared before the Plaintiff and exclaimed, 'I hate these chairs, we shouldn't have them here. I'm sorry,'" the lawsuit states.
"The manager then directed a pharmacist employed by Defendant to immediately remove the chair from the room."
