Walmart Shoplifter Returns, Gets Arrested: Police

Her crimes were at the Walmart on Jefferson Street, police said.

JOLIET, IL - Stealing is a crime and stores such as Walmart go to great lengths to employ top-notch security guards and loss prevention staff to minimize their losses. Late Sunday afternoon, 24-year-old Joliet resident Diamond Kennedy was taken away from the busy retail store in handcuffs by Joliet Police. She was charged with retail theft.

It's her fourth stint in the Will County Jail since 2017, jail logs show.

Joliet Police spoke with the Walmart staff on Jefferson Street who told them that on Saturday afternoon,"Kennedy placed several items of merchandise into a cart and exited the store without paying for the items. Staff advised that Kennedy quickly loaded the items into a Blue Dodge sedan and fled the area before she could be stopped," reports show.

Kennedy got away with that crime, but then she came back on Sunday afternoon, about an hour after the Chicago Bears game had ended, reports indicate.

At 4:02 p.m., Joliet "officers were advised that Kennedy was in the store again at the customer service counter. Staff stated that they were able to positively identified Kennedy as the subject who had stolen several items the day before. Upon officer’s arrival, Kennedy was arrested for the above offense," police said.
