Walmart Thief Has 2 Successes, Then Gets Busted: Cops

His crimes all happened on Jefferson Street at the Walmart, police said.

JOLIET, IL - After spending five nights sleeping at the Will County Jail, downtown Joliet resident Antoine Shelby is no longer in custody after being arrested last week on three counts of retail theft at the Walmart. Joliet Police were called to the 2400 block of West Jefferson Street last Tuesday night for a retail thief who was captured, reports show.

"Upon arrival, officers spoke to staff members who stated they observed Shelby concealing several items in a plastic tote. Shelby then left without paying for the items. Staff members detained Shelby until police arrived," police said.

Walmart told the Joliet Police that they had also two other recent shoplifting reports involving Shelby stealing merchandise on Nov. 24 and Nov. 25, police said. "Shelby was then arrested for the above offense for each incident," reports show.
