Washington Junior High Siblings to Compete at State Wrestling Tournament

Three Joliet District 86 Brothers Advance to the State Competition

Congratulations to three Washington Junior High siblings who qualified to compete in the Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) 45th annual State Wrestling Tournament in DeKalb, Illinois on March 13-24, 2026.

The Washington Junior High School Student Athletes are Da`Marion Wilder, 8th grade; Deandre Wilder, 8th grade; and DeShaun Wilder, 7th grade. The dynamic trio have a combined record of 76-7 this season.

The students are coached by Washington Junior High teacher Candace Gunty, Woodland Elementary teacher Jason Kuefler, Gompers Junior High teacher Gabe Venegas, and Gompers Paraprofessional Donald Thomas. Over 600 students, representing 169 schools from across the state will compete in the tournament.
