Whitley Ave. Tragedy: Funerals, Visitations Set

These are the worst types of calls officers can respond to, Joliet Police Chief Al Roechner said last week.

JOLIET,IL - The Minor-Morris Funeral Home on Richards Street has announced details for the visitations and funeral services involving the four people who died Wednesday night, Feb. 27 at their house on Whitley Avenue, a triple-murder suicide, Joliet Police determined.

Last Friday evening, Joliet Police revealed that Jacquelon Gaskin, 28, and her children, Giovanni Amir Lee, and Gianna Alysee Lee, were fatally shot on the second floor of their house on the city's east side. After killing the three, Brandyn Lee, 34, then fatally shot himself, police said.

Giovanni would have turned 2 next month. Older sister Gianna would have been 7 in August.

According to the funeral home, visitations for Gaskin, Giovanni and Gianna will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6 at St. Paul's Missionary Baptist Church, 1404 South Briggs St.

Their visitations will continue from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 7. Funeral services for the three homicide victims will begin at 11 a.m. inside the church.

As for Brandyn Lee, 34, his visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, at the Minor-Morris Funeral Home, 112 Richards St. His funeral service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday night, March 6, at the All Nations Church of God in Christ, 503 South Water St.

Minor-Morris also listed a secondary visitation for Lee from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 7 at All Nations Church of God In Christ.

The only full length obituary notice published by the Joliet funeral home was for Brandyn Lee. It mentioned that he was educated at Joliet Central High School and that he was a church usher at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

"Brandyn was employed at Qualawash for almost eight years as a Lead Biohazard Tank Washer in Joliet, Illinois. He took great pride in the quality of his work and always strived to show that," his obituary notes.
