Bill enjoyed boating with his family, traveling all over the globe, and sharing memorable journeys with his wife.

William James “Bill” Broderick

William James Broderick, passed away at the age of 71 on Tuesday, May 26, 2027, at Rush Copley Hospital in Aurora, with his family by his side.Bill was born on September 14, 1954, the son of the late William and Lorraine (nee Papineau) Broderick.

Bill grew up in Lombard, Illinois, and graduated from Glenbard East High School, where he played football and formed many lasting friendships. He continued his education at Western Illinois University, where he was a proud member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. It was during his college years that he met the love of his life, Dawn Susan Papai, with whom he would share 48 years of marriage.

Bill dedicated over 50 years of his professional life to Property Concepts Inc., a real estate company where he worked his way up to Vice President. His longstanding commitment and leadership were a source of stability and guidance to colleagues and clients alike.

In his leisure time, Bill found great joy in adventure and togetherness. He enjoyed boating with his family, traveling all over the globe, and sharing memorable journeys with his wife. Bill was proud of the achievement that he and Dawn made with Royal Caribbean, reaching Diamond Plus Members, having almost a year on board! Whether close to home or across the world, he cherished every opportunity to explore, learn, and create lasting memories with those he loved. As a father, he was proud and supportive, always active in his sons’ sporting events. His love and encouragement were constant pillars in their lives.

Faith was central to Bill’s life. As a parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, he embraced his faith wholeheartedly and was known as a man of strong conviction and quiet strength. His trust in God guided him through life’s joys and challenges and shaped the way he cared for those around him.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Dawn (nee Papai) Broderick; his three sons, Jason William (fiancé Anna Lasota) Broderick, Jeremy James (Amy) Broderick, and Justin Michael Broderick; four sisters, Janice Delaney, Donna Stanger, Kathy (Brandt) Wollert, and Pat (Jim) Flannery; his brothers-in-law, Robert (Susan) Papai and Michael (Susan) Papai. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

He is preceded by his parents, and his brother-in-law, Steven Papai.

Funeral Services for William James Broderick will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, June 1, 2026, from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL, to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 2500 Arbeiter Rd., Joliet, IL, where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m.Interment will be held privately by the family at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.Visitation will be held at the funeral home chapel on Sunday, May 31, 2026, from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to Mesothelioma Research Foundation.
