WILMINGTON, IL — The authorities at the Wilmington Police Department have obtained a bench warrant to arrest 45-year-old Wilmington resident Scott McCaughn on two felony charges of aggravated battery. McCaughn is accused of using his fists to throw several punches to the face of another man, who was a patron inside The Rustic Inn saloon, 108 North Water St.

The criminal complaint states that McCaughn, "without legal justification knowingly caused bodily harm" to another man who "was on a public place of accommodation or amusement, namely The Rustic Inn."

The violent outburst occurred July 26, according to McCaughn's criminal complaint, which was filed Thursday at the Will County Courthouse. Will County Judge Raymond Nash set the Wilmington man's bail at $200,000. That means McCaughn will need to post $20,000 cash in order to secure his release from custody.
