According to the Wilmington Police Department criminal complaint, Veenstra is accused of stealing tools from the Ace Hardware on South Water Street on Sept. 22. The complaint indicates that Veenstra was also convicted in 2000 of committing a burglary in Will County. Therefore, "the defendant is hereby placed on notice that it is the intention of the people of the state of Illinois to seek an enhanced Class 4 sentence based upon the defendant's prior conviction for burglary," the court files show.
