Woman, 21, Dies Passing Semi On Wilmington-Peotone Road: Sheriff
Three vehicles were involved in Wednesday afternoon's fatality at Wilmington-Peotone Road, just west of 104th Avenue in Peotone.

PEOTONE, IL — A 21-year-0ld woman from Chesterton, Indiana died Wednesday afternoon during a crash along Wilmington-Peotone Road near 104th Avenue in Peotone Township.
The Will County Coroner's Office identified the crash victim as Olivia Porter.
Will County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the crash around 3:30 p.m. Peotone Fire crews advised that the driver of a 2019 Nissan Rogue was dead, and the Will County Coroner’s Office was contacted.

According to Will County police, the young woman from Indiana was driving west on Wilmington-Peotone Road, following a slower moving semi-trailer.
Porter attempted to pass the semi in the eastbound lane, but caught the edge of the pavement and hit the gravel. Police said Porter tried to correct her car and get back into the westbound lane. At the same time, the driver of another semi-trailer in the oncoming lane tried to stop his vehicle and went into the westbound lane to avoid the collision with the Nissan.

The second semi, a Mack Tractor fuel tanker driven by a 56-year-old Braidwood man, crashed into the Nissan, pushing it into a ditch.
Another vehicle, a 2006 Acura driven by a 46-year-old man, was traveling west and drove into the north side ditch into a cornfield to avoid the crash, police said. The Acura driver and Mack truck driver were not injured.
