Woman Killed In Four-Vehicle Crash On I-80 In Joliet

Her vehicle was struck by another vehicle near Larkin Avenue.

JOLIET, IL — A woman died Wednesday night after her Nissan Versa was struck by another vehicle in a chain-reaction crash on eastbound I-80 near Larkin Avenue, according to the Will County Coroner's Office. Coroner Pat O'Neil identified the woman as Ayla M. Tyson, 29, of Wilsonville, Oregon.

Tyson was pronounced dead at 6:43 p.m. at the Presence St. Joseph Medical Center emergency room.

Illinois State Police said Tyson's car was one of four involved in the crash just after 6 p.m. Wednesday. A Ford pickup truck with a trailer rear-ended her Nissan, which in turn hit a Ford Fusion and Ford Taurus, police said.

A passenger in Tyson's vehicle was also taken to an area hospital with injuries, along with the driver of the pickup and a passenger in the Ford Taurus. Illinois State Police Crash Reconstruction Officers are investigating this crash.
