Woman Falls Or Jumps From Black Road Overpass At I-55, Pronounced Dead At St. Joe's Hospital: Joliet Police

JOLIET, IL — Joliet Police Department spokesman Dwayne English has released information from Tuesday's investigation surrounding the death of a woman at Black Road and I-55. The Illinois State Police directed Joliet Patch to the city department for details of the incident.

The Will County Coroner's Office of Laurie Summers has identified the woman as 68-year-old Joliet resident Maureen Jurisic.

According to English, at 7:03 a.m., officers responded to the Black Road overpass over Interstate 55 for a report of a woman standing on the overpass. While officers responded, the female had either fallen or jumped from the overpass onto Interstate 55.

An ambulance in the area stopped on Interstate 55 to render aid and took the woman to the St. Joseph Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead. Officers found the victim’s vehicle nearby on Northwest Frontage Road. No suspicious circumstances were found at the scene, according to police.
