Officers responded to Theodore Street and Brighton Lane for a crash with injuries. A preliminary investigation determined that the 33-year-old woman was driving her Teyin Super R scooter in the westbound lanes of Theodore Street near Brighton Lane when her scooter went to the ground, causing her to fall on the road.

The Joliet woman was then hit by a Jeep Wrangler driven by a 47-year-old Joliet woman who was westbound on Theodore Street.

The victim was then dragged by the Jeep to the 1100 block of North River Road in Shorewood, approximately a mile away.

"It is believed that the driver of the Jeep did not know she had struck an individual and discovered the victim under her vehicle upon stopping," English announced in Thursday's press release.

An ambulance from Troy's Fire Protection District brought the critically injured woman to St. Joe's where she remains.

English asked that anyone with information or surveillance video regarding this crash call the Joliet Police Department Traffic Unit at 815-724-3010.
