JOLIET, IL — A 29-year-old Joliet man from the 200 block of Madison Street was arrested over the weekend after Joliet police say Treston Adams hit a woman in her face inside his apartment and refused to let her go.
Now lodged in the Will County Jail with a $50,000 bail, Adams is being charged with unlawful restraint and domestic battery.
Saturday's incident happened around 7:30 a.m.

"Adams met officers at the door indicating that no assistance was needed, and then closed the door," police spokesman Dwayne English said. "Officers then overheard a female from within the apartment yelling for assistance, indicating that Adams would not let her leave."
When Adams opened his door, the woman emerged from the apartment, police noted. Adams had been in a previous romantic relationship with her.

"It was determined that Adams struck the victim in the face and body multiple times and then refused to allow the victim to leave the apartment," police reports reflect. "Officers attempted to question Adams, who then punched a nearby picture frame on the wall, injuring his hand."
When tried to run from his apartment building, which is near the St. Joe's hospital, he was quickly taken into custody outside the building.
At the downtown Joliet police station, Adams began slamming his head against the floor, so a Joliet Fire Department ambulance brought him to Ascension St Joseph Medical Center for treatment, English noted.
Adams was released from the hospital on Sunday and taken to the Will County Adult Detention Facility, where he remained in custody on Tuesday.
