Woman Hospitalized After Aluminum Bat Used To Harm Her: JPD

Joliet police said 59-year-old Thomas Couch kicked the victim in the eye while she lay in a bed.

JOLIET, IL — A Joliet woman was taken to St. Joe's hospital on Wednesday night after Joliet police say 59-year-old Thomas Couch used an aluminum baseball bat to attack her at her place in the 300 block of North Broadway Street.

Couch was booked into the Will County Jail early Thanksgiving morning, he's charged with aggravated battery and domestic battery.

At 10 p.m. Wednesday, Joliet police were called to the domestic disturbance on North Broadway.

"During an argument in an apartment, Couch kicked the victim in the eye while she lay in a bed," Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English announced. "Couch then struck the victim multiple times in the face with his fist."

Joliet police said a family member intervened and stopped the attack from further escalating.

According to English, officers learned that Couch had struck the victim in the arm with an aluminum bat while both were in Couch’s vehicle, earlier Wednesday evening.

Bail for Couch has been set at $10,000. The Joliet resident has a post office box in the 1200 block of Arthur Avenue, his jail logs show.
