"It was determined that Armstead and the victim, her boyfriend, were previously arguing while seated in the victim’s vehicle at Armstead's residence," Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English announced.
He said that Armstead exited the vehicle and walked towards her residence. The victim also exited the vehicle and walked away.

A short time later, the victim heard several gunshots.
When the man returned to his vehicle, he saw it was shot up with several bullets. His windows were shattered, and his tires were slashed, English noted.
Officers set up a perimeter around Armstead’s residence on Fairview Avenue and a crisis negotiator contacted Armstead by phone, English stated. Armstead agreed to exit the residence, and she was arrested without any problems.
Police searched Armstead’s residence and recovered a locked safe and an empty firearm box, however, the gun has not been located, English indicated.
Armstead remained in the Will County Jail on Thursday, unable to post 10 percent of her $50,000 bail.
