JOLIET, IL — Bail has been set at $50,000 for Joliet's Janquishlan Aguirre after she was arrested Saturday afternoon while attacking Joliet police officers in the 300 block of North Bluff Street, trying to put one officer in a headlock, police reports show.

After being taken away in handcuffs, Aguirre used her legs trying to kick out one of the Joliet police car windows, police noted. On Monday morning, Aguirre was lodged behind bars at the Will County Jail, where she's charged with aggravated battery to a peace officer, resisting the arrest and criminal damage to state supported property.

According to Joliet police Sgt. Dwayne English, the following events took place on Saturday afternoon, leading to the Joliet woman's felony arrest:

Around 3:15 p.m. Joliet squad cars showed up to the 300 block of Bluff after a man notified them that Aguirre was inside his apartment against his wishes.

Aguirre has her own apartment in the same building and is the girlfriend of the tenant.

"Despite numerous requests from officers, Aguirre refused to leave the apartment ... she then pushed past Officers while arguing with the male tenant," English noted.

As tensions in the apartment unit escalated, "Aguirre continued to refuse to leave and kicked an officer. Officers attempted to place Aguirre into custody at which time she began to struggle and tried to place an officer in a headlock," English indicated.

Eventually, police put her in custody following the long struggle and when she got put into the squad car's backseat, she started kicking the back window, police noted.

Down at the Joliet Police Department, Aguirre complained of a hand injury, and she was transported to Ascension St Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department, English said.

Aguirre was discharged from the hospital a short time later and was transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility. She was booked into the jail at 8:38 p.m.
