Wood Oven Pizza Arrives In Joliet With Forno Pizzeria

JOLIET, IL — Joliet's West Jefferson Street is finally gaining its first wood-fired pizza restaurant as Forno Pizzeria & Bar has its soft opening over the next three days. The new restaurant was originally approved more than a year ago by the Joliet City Council. At that time, the project was supposed to be called the Wheel & Brew Pizza Company.

For the soft opening, the hours of business will be 2 to 11 p.m. Thursday, 2 p.m. to midnight Friday and 2 to midnight Saturday.

For not even being open yet, the Forno Pizzeria Facebook page already has 1,268 likes and more than 1,3000 Facebook followers.

"FORNO Pizzeria offers the best Wood Fired Neapolitan style PIZZA and draft BEER in town, as well as your favorite jams from our state of the art Jukebox," its Facebook page proclaims.

People are asked to make reservations for the soft opening at the Forno Joliet website.

Forno Pizzeria fills the empty Verizon Wireless storefront at 2941 West Jefferson St. It is located in the Jefferson Village, right across the street from the Inwood Recreation Center.
