Oversized Semi Disrupts Downtown Joliet Traffic
Friday afternoon's incident caused significant traffic congestion along the Route 6 stretch of downtown Joliet.

JOLIET, IL — A semi-trailer transporting a modular building caused a major traffic snarl in downtown Joliet on Friday afternoon. Several Joliet police officers were on the scene to help with the traffic congestion along from North Ottawa Street, which is Route 6.
Joliet police said the incident happened around 1:30 p.m.
An official at the Will County Courthouse later told Patch that it was his understanding that Joliet police were providing the oversized semi with an escort, and the driver of the oversized rig ran into problems when he came up Jefferson Street and tried to turn on to Route 6.

By 2:10 p.m., the semi driver was able to back up his rig far enough to avoid blocking the busy intersection. Doing so finally allowed cars and semi drivers that had been waiting for several minutes to proceed along Route 6.
At the scene, Joliet police told Patch the semi did not strike any of the vehicles parked along the downtown area near the old Will County Courthouse.
