JOLIET, IL —The Illinois Department of Transportation announced on Monday morning that the right lane on eastbound Interstate 80 at Center Street in Joliet and Rockdale is closed for emergency repairs.

The repairs are anticipated to be completed and the lane reopened by the evening rush today. However, it may take more time for the concrete to set and gain sufficient strength before the lane can be reopened to traffic. Westbound I-80 will not be impacted.

On Monday morning, one woman named Robin posted in the I-80 And I-55 Corridor Facebook group: "HAZARD. I-80 eastbound bridge about 15 cars stopped on shoulder with flat tires. Unsure why but can assume a pothole. Left lane was OK so might be in the right lane."
