99 New Coronavirus Cases in La Grange: County
The town sees a lower rate of increase in the last week.
LA GRANGE, IL — La Grange saw a lower rate of increase in coronavirus cases in the last week, according to the Cook County Public Health Department.
As of Sunday, La Grange, including La Grange Highlands, had 1,297 virus cases since the beginning of the pandemic, up 8 percent from the week before. This is lower than the two previous weeks' increases of 13 percent and 10 percent, respectively.
Since early October, La Grange's cases have increased 166 percent. The number of those who have recovered is unavailable.

According to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, the number of coronavirus-related deaths in La Grange stayed the same in the last week at 22. The latest deaths were Dec. 5 and Dec. 1. All the local deaths have been those who were 68 or older, according to the medical examiner.
The mortality rate among La Grange cases is 1.7 percent. Of the entire population of La Grange and La Grange Highlands, 6.8 percent have been infected with the coronavirus. About a tenth of 1 percent of the population have died from the virus.

As of Sunday, La Grange, including La Grange Highlands, had 67.9 coronavirus cases per thousand people, the worst of its surveyed neighbors. The figure compares to 43.7 in La Grange Park, 48.6 in Darien, 50.1 in Hinsdale, 50.3 in Western Springs, 56.3 in Clarendon Hills, 57.2 in Elmhurst, 57.4 in DuPage County, 61.8 in suburban Cook County and 62.5 in Burr Ridge.

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 848,904, up 7.8 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 14,291 state residents.
Nationally, 15.9 million people have caught the virus, up 10 percent from the week before. A total of 296,818 people have died from the virus in the United States.
