LA GRANGE, IL – The principal of Park Junior High in La Grange Park is headed to another position in the district.
Jerome Green, the principal for the last four years, is becoming La Grange District 102's director of student life and junior high operations, starting in July, Superintendent Chris Covino said Monday.
"This is a role we designed based on a need to have a stronger tie between our elementary schools and the junior high school, which is a stated goal in our strategic plan," Covino said in an email to Patch. "He will also strengthen the ties between the junior high and high school."
The role, Covino said, would put Green at the center of student activities that are outside of typical classroom academics. That comes with a focus on increasing student opportunities and belonging, also a part of the long-term strategic plan, he said.
"The Junior High operations portion of the job makes sure that he is still anchored to Park JH and will work closely with the new principal," Covino said.
Last month, the school board voted to hire Drew McGuire as Park's new principal. He is now the principal at Marquardt Middle School in Glendale Heights.
Park Junior High serves about 650 students.
