1. La Grange's 'Deficiencies' While Key Post Vacant (patch.com) — Residents in La Grange are learning more about why the village’s annual audit was delayed and flagged for significant internal control deficiencies after going more than a year without a finance director. Village leaders say interviews are underway to finally fill the key position, which has left the town relying on an outside firm and struggling with timely bank reconciliations and state reporting deadlines.
2. Safety Issue Noted At La Grange Intersection; Solution Suggested (patch.com) — Neighbors in La Grange are raising alarms about dangerous near-misses at the intersection of Lincoln and Washington avenues, especially with children crossing from the nearby Lacey Community Center. Residents and trustees are urging the village to consider a four-way stop and tighter landscaping rules on corners to improve visibility and protect pedestrians.
3. La Grange Residents To Pick Up Tab For Lead Pipes (patch.com) — La Grange residents are being told they must pay for the portion of lead service lines running from the village valve to their homes, a cost expected to reach thousands of dollars per household. With roughly two-thirds of village pipes made of lead, officials are planning a long-term, multimillion-dollar replacement effort while some residents criticize the pace and financing of the project.
4. Carole Marguerite Roach, 91 (patch.com) — Longtime La Grange resident and geriatric nurse Carole Marguerite Roach is being remembered with a memorial service at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in La Grange on June 24, followed by a celebration of life at Palmer Place. Roach raised her family here while working at Colonial Manor Nursing Home before retiring to Michigan, and her family suggests memorial donations to the American Red Cross.
5. Deported Man Returns, Injures Lyons Cops: Prosecutors (patch.com) — Federal prosecutors say a man previously deported multiple times has been sentenced to 14 months in prison after resisting arrest and injuring Lyons police officers in 2025, in a case reported out of La Grange. The conviction for unlawful re-entry means he will again face removal from the United States, a development of interest to residents following public safety issues in nearby communities.
