Weather forecast:
1. La Grange Historic Building Demolition Delayed Again (patch.com) — La Grange neighbors watching the Jackson Square antique mall site will see demolition delayed again, as a Cook County judge extended a restraining order through June 30. The pause gives time for legal arguments in a lawsuit by next-door neighbor Jonathan Robinson, who challenges the village’s approval of a 39‑unit condo project on Burlington Avenue.
2. La Grange Residents To Pick Up Tab For Lead Pipes (patch.com) — La Grange residents with lead water lines will be required to pay for the portion of pipe running from the B-box to their homes, a cost expected to reach thousands per household. With about two-thirds of village pipes made of lead, officials are planning a long, expensive replacement effort while seeking more outside funding.
3. Safety Issue Noted At La Grange Intersection; Solution Suggested (patch.com) — Drivers and pedestrians in La Grange are raising alarms about near-misses at Lincoln and Washington avenues, especially with children crossing near the Lacey Community Center. Trustees are now considering a four-way stop and tighter landscaping rules to improve visibility and safety at that intersection.
4. La Grange's 'Deficiencies' While Key Post Vacant (patch.com) — La Grange has gone 13 months without a finance director, leading to late audits and newly identified “significant deficiencies” in financial controls. Village leaders say interviews are underway and they’re optimistic about filling the role soon, which could stabilize how La Grange manages its money.
5. Tampa Adds Pro Swim Series Qualifier Lachlan Gantt to 2026 Recruiting Class (swimswam.com) — A Lyons Township High School graduate from La Grange, swimmer Lachlan Gantt, has committed to continue his career at the University of Tampa starting this fall. The story details his standout recent performances with FMC Aquatic Club and at major meets, and explains how his current times could immediately score points and add depth for Tampa’s nationally competitive Division II program.
