• $6K-A-Day Elevator Operator Not So Much In Context: Official (patch.com) — Lyons Township High School officials in La Grange are defending a controversial $24,000 payment for a certified elevator operator hired for four days to meet safety regulations while furniture was moved before school started. Board members acknowledged taxpayers' frustration but argued the cost is small within a $100 million budget, even though the operator earned far more than the superintendent and never actually ran the elevator.
• Lyons Township High Goes Out To Bid For Willow Springs Land (patch.com) — Lyons Township High School's La Grange-based board has voted to sell its 71 acres in Willow Springs through a sealed-bid process, this time without a minimum price. After past secret talks over industrial development drew public outrage and an attorney general rebuke, the board is openly warning bidders about zoning limits and neighborhood opposition to industrial uses.
• Hinsdale's Assistance League of Chicagoland West marks 30 years of helping (chicagotribune.com) — Residents of La Grange are among those directly served by the Assistance League of Chicagoland West, which provides winter coats, school clothing, books, and household essentials to local families in need. The Hinsdale-based group, now 30 years old, partners with area schools and agencies and is preparing for its Nov. 10 Books & Brunch fundraiser to keep all of its support programs local.
