Gurrie Middle School will host Band-Aid Benefit Concert

A benefit concert, Band-Aid, is set for 7:30pm. on April 18. It will take place in Aurand Hall, Gurrie Middle School, 1001 S. Spring Avenue in La Grange.  School District 105's Concert Band, Concert Orchestra, Gurrie Choir and GMS Jazz Ensemble are banding together in an effort to raise money for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure campaign to end breast cancer. The Gurrie music students perform this special concert as a  charitable fund-raising event in hopes of making a difference. The charity is voted on and chosen by the middle school music students.   A unique aspect of Band-Aid is that groups that do not normally perform together will collaborate on a few songs. "There is nothing more joyous than helping others through music -- it's really a wonderful feeling!" says seventh-grade Band and Orchestra musician Grace Stuewe.  Musical Directors Jerry Lowrey, Tracy Kay, and Violet Muser are polishing an uplifting and entertaining program. Everyone is invited to attend. There is no set door fee however monetary donations will gladly be accepted on behalf of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Please come, bring your wallets, and help these young musician's make difference by supporting their cause.
