Animals Enjoy Wintry Weather At Brookfield Zoo
Several animals at the zoo were given repurposed holiday trees to play with and enjoy.

BROOKFIELD, IL – Several of the animals at Brookfield Zoo didn’t seemed phased by the continuing chilly temperatures the Chicago area experienced last week. The zoo said its bison herd; Whirl, one of the Amur tigers; Hudson, the zoo’s 11-year-old polar bear; and even the African painted dogs were treated to repurposed holiday trees. The trees given to Whirl, Hudson, and the painted dogs were adorned with nutritious treats. The zoo said the bison seemed to enjoy their enrichment items by tossing them around and rubbing their horns on the trees.
The zoo is still open during the winter season, and in January and February, general admission is free on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
