Travel thru Alsace and you may think you are in Germany. This area has been trading borders for centuries but there is no mistaking that they make truly French wines. Along with Austria and Germany, it produces some of the most noted dry Rieslings in the world as well as highly aromatic Gewurztraminer wines. The Alsace region lies between the Vosges mountains and the French border with Germany, marked by the Rhine river. White varietal wines make up 90% of production in the Alsace region, and are perfect with outdoor events in warm weather.
Wines from the Loire Valley or as the region is refered to as "the heart of France" are food-friendly, easy to drink and affordable. The Loire makes very modern wines, wine for today, with immense drinkability. Taste a little piece of each area at Saturday's tasting between 2-6pm and enjoy what both regions have to offer.
