Attack Suspects Seen At North Riverside Mall: Cops

The men are believed to have beaten and robbed Chicago's film director, police said.

NORTH RIVERSIDE, IL – The three men who attacked and robbed the director of the Chicago Film Office were seen on surveillance video at the North Riverside Park Mall, Chicago police said Monday.

The men shopped at the mall Monday. They used a credit card stolen from Kwame Amoaku, 51, who started as the film office director in 2019, according to the CWBChicago news website.

About 8 a.m. Wednesday, the men attacked Amoaku when he found them rummaging through his car near his home in the 2100 block of West 22nd Place, the website said.

Retired Riverside Police Chief Tom Weitzel tweeted about the sighting of the men at the nearby mall.

"The location of the attack in Chicago is only 22 minutes from the North Riverside Mall. So the offenders may well be from the suburban area. That’s not known yet," he told Patch in an email.
