Aphrodisiac Foods for Valentine’s Day

Planning a romantic dinner with that someone special this Valentine’s Day (or anytime)? Try picking up some so-called “aphrodisiac” foods. Aphrodisiacs are items that stimulate sexual desire. There are scientific studies that support the “love” reputation of some of these foods but without hard laboratory proof, going with ancient mystique and a little placebo effect can’t be all bad. These are all healthy foods, so get creative and have fun with this list. If you need a “safety net” just uncork the red wine!

Aphrodisiac Foods: Almonds, aniseed, arugula, asparagus, avocado, bananas, basil, broccoli rabe, carrots, chocolate, coffee, coriander, fennel, figs, garlic (make sure you both eat it), ginger, honey, hot peppers, licorice, mustard, nutmeg, OYSTERS (lots of research behind this one), pineapple, pine nuts, raspberries, strawberries, truffles, vanilla, and watermelon.
