Community Park District Deals with European Ash Bore

Tell-tale signs of the European Emerald Ash Bore (EAB) were discovered by Community Park District staff last month. As a result, the Park District Board of Commissioners approved a proposal from Bluder’s Tree Service, Brookfield in the amount of $9,500.00 to remove thirty-trees Ash trees from four park sites. The parks include William G. Yena, Hanesworth, Memorial and Robinhood. Work is scheduled to begin the week of February 18 and will continue through the week.

The Park District has submitted a request for U.S. Forest Service grant money to help pay for the tree removal and reforestation project estimated to cost $20,000. To save money, replacement trees will be planted by the Park District’s park maintenance staff.
