Preparing for Earth Day

As we are planning our Earth Day activities, we are looking to collect newspaper! Worm bins need newspaper, and we hope to be able to accommodate all who stop in on April 22, for the celebration.

“I wish Mr. Wind wouldn’t have come and blown our stuff away. Maybe he thought he was cleaning, but it was art, not a mess,” said Maya as we tried to catch the sticks and pine cones before they blew away. We had our second outdoor classroom day last week, which we spent making natural variations of the dimensional Montessori material, The Red Rods.

As part of our campaign to keep plastic out of the oceans, we will be collecting plastic bottles (water or soda, any size, any color) and turning them into WORM HOTELS!  We are also taking orders for reusable, BPA free water bottles available in our school colors! During Screen Free week, April 29 through May 3, we will be holding various after school activities including the Worm Hotel workshop!  Don’t forget to drop off your Terracycle waste…if the collection box ix not out front, bags may be left in back of the school on the wooden table, or you can call to make drop-off arrangements — 708-325-8246! Check out our website, www.tchms.org, for details. Time is running out to participate in our Spring Flower and Bulb Fundraiser, links can be found on the website.
