Showcase season for LTSC boys U13 team

The Lyons Township Soccer Club Boys U13 Showcase team has advanced to the semifinal of the Illinois State Cup competition and has won its division of the Midwest Regional League.

On May 12 the LTSC team beat Campton United Navy 1-0 after a 5-1 win the day
before over TCSA to advance to next weekend’s final four in the U13 State Cup.
On May 18 they will face the Chicago Fire Academy, with the winner advancing to
the final on Sunday, May 19. All matches are being played in Rockford.

The LTSC team also won its division of the Midwest Regional League in its first
season competing in this prestigious league, which features top Midwest teams
that must qualify to enter the league. LTSC competed in the First Division West
White against teams from Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska and Iowa, finishing with
a 5-1-1 record to place at the top of the field of eight. The result guarantees
the team a spot in the fall in the U14 Premier Division, which will include the
top-finishing teams from this spring’s six U13 divisions.

LTSC Boys U13 Showcase team members are Sander Adriani, Ian Bales, Charlie
Clarke, Sam DeBoer, Quinn Fraser, Tyler Guagenti, Charlie Hall, Edison Hawkins,
Nick Jacobs, Luke Lusson, Adam McGahay, Andrew Muravitsky, Phillip Panopoulos, Jack Richards, Tate Riordan, Nate Rusk and Matt Vear. The team is coached by Paul Thomas. Leigh Hall serves as parent manager. Many of the boys have played together on an LTSC team since they were 7 years old.

Lyons Township Soccer Club is the area’s largest and oldest competitive,
not-for-profit, professionally coached soccer club. Tryouts are held in May and
June for the 40-plus LTSC teams playing competitively in the U8 to U18 age
groups. LTSC also offers an Academy program and recreational programs. More
information about LTSC is available at www.ltsc.us
or by calling (708) 387-8009.

In addition to the U13 Showcase team, six other LTSC teams competed in the
Illinois State Cup – Girls U13 Showcase, Girls U15, U16 and U18 Union, and Boys
U15 and U17 Union. The State Cup is the most prestigious tournament in Illinois
and the official state championship tournament of the US Youth Soccer National
Championship Series.

Winners advance to regional play, where they have the chance to qualify for the
nationals.

The Midwest Regional League’s mission is to provide the highest standard of
competitive play for youth teams in US Youth Soccer Region II (the Midwest
Region) and to assure the continued growth and development of elite-level
players.
