Brenna Healy Receives Soroptimist Award

Brenna Healy of Brookfield is the recipient of the 2015 Live Your Dream Award from Soroptimist International of Suburban Chicago. The Live Your Dream Awards assist women who provide the primary source of financial support for their families by giving them the resources they need to improve their education, skills, and employment prospects.

Brenna was accepted into the vascular ultrasound program at Rush University’s and began the program this past September. The program consists of nine months of classroom and laboratory work, followed by one year performing vascular examinations on patients at hospital clinical sites.

In June of 2015, program participants are required to complete a 20 week clinical rotation out of state. Brenna has a very young son and this will be a tremendous challenge living on her own with her son for 20 weeks. Brenna sees the obstacles as a challenge that makes her a stronger person and renews her focus to accomplish her goals. She wants to show her son that in spite of what life throws at you, with motivation, drive, determination, and a little support, you can obtain an education, and achieve your dreams.

Brenna will be recognized at an Awards Celebration in May with three other women/girls who received awards from Soroptimist International of Suburban Chicago.
