Brookfield Zoo Holds FREEze Day Celebration
The day will be filled with dog sledding runs along with other winter events and animal fun.

BROOKFIELD, IL – Brookfield Zoo will hold its annual FREEze Day on Sunday, Feb. 11. The day will be filled with dog sledding runs along with other winter events and animal fun – all for free admission.
From 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., zoogoers can join members of the Green Valley Dog Drivers and their dogs for dogsled demonstrations on the zoo’s West Mall. The zoo said during this time, mushers and their pups will answer questions about the one-of-a-kind sport. Also joining the festivities will be representatives from the Forest Preserves of Cook County, who will be on hand to share information about their winter activities.
Guests will also have a chance to listen in on special zoo chats hosted by animal care staff. The zoo said these informal talks will highlight some of winter’s most popular animals. At 11 a.m. on the West Mall, find out about the red-tailed hawk and other birds of prey. Then venture to Great Bear Wilderness for a chat about polar bears at 11:30 a.m. Immediately following at noon, discover interesting facts about the Mexican gray wolves, including a recovery program for the species that the zoo participates in. Finally, at 2 p.m. venture across the park for a chat about one of the most elusive cats in the world—the snow leopard.
