Brookfield Zoo Unveils Statue In Memory Of Zoo's Longest-Lived Animal
A life-size bronze statue in memory of Cookie, Brookfield Zoo's longest-lived animal, will be unveiled on Sunday, Sept. 24.

BROOKFIELD, IL — A life-size bronze statue in memory of Cookie, Brookfield Zoo's longest-lived animal, will be unveiled on Sunday, Sept. 24. According to the zoo, Cookie, a Major Mitchell's cockatoo, died in 2016 and was the last remaining animal from the original collection of the zoo, dating back to 1934.
The statue will be unveiled at 1 p.m. Sunday in front of the zoo's Reptiles and Birds exhibit. According to the zoo's website, during the dedication, Tim Snyder, curator of birds, will share a few memories. Other staff and guests are invited to also share any fond memories they have of Cookie.
