Burglary, Car Break-Ins In La Grange Park: Cops

In one case, someone smashed a window and compromised the ignition, police said.

LA GRANGE PARK, IL – A number of crimes happened overnight Sunday in La Grange Park – a garage burglary and three break-ins of cars, police said.

The activity took place in the 800 block of Robinhood Lane and the 500 and 1000 blocks of Newberry Avenue, according to a police news release.

Police said someone forced entry into a car in the 1000 block of Newberry by smashing the rear passenger side window. The suspect compromised the ignition in an apparent attempt to steal the car. Meanwhile, a bicycle was stolen from the garage in the 500 block of Newberry, police said.

La Grange Park police said they were investigating residential burglaries on Sept. 4 in the 300 block of Dover Avenue and Sept. 20 in the 800 block of Kensington Avenue.

Forced entry was made into both houses by prying open the back door between noon and 5 p.m., police said. The stolen items include a camera, currency and costume jewelry.

Police said they were working closely with neighboring police departments who responded to similar crimes during the same times. Police are asking residents to check their private security cameras for footage that may help their investigations.
