Car Burglaries At La Grange Gym: Police

In another case, a shopper's purse was stolen from her cart, authorities said.

LA GRANGE, IL – La Grange police released their latest blotter Friday. Here is information from the reports:

Car burglaries

  • A purse was stolen from a car on the evening of Jan. 11 at the Park District of La Grange's La Grange Fitness, 536 East Ave. The purse contained a phone and $400 in cash. A car window was broken out. Another car was burglarized around the same time. A window was broken, and a backpack containing a phone and $400 in cash were stolen. No video was available.

Harassment

  • A former employee of Pet Supplies Plus, 15 N. La Grange Road, harassed and threatened workers at the store. The former employee is no longer welcome at the store. The report was filed Jan. 22.

Stolen purse

  • A shopper at Trader Joe's, 25 N. La Grange Road, told police Jan. 19 that someone stole her purse from her unattended cart. No video was available. Her credit card was used at another store, where she was charged $1,700. Her bank reimbursed her.

  • An 18-year-old Countryside man was arrested after a crash about 8:30 p.m. Jan. 21 in the 10 block of South Brainard Avenue. He was charged with violating the zero tolerance law, reckless driving, driving too fast for conditions and damaging village property. The zero tolerance law bars those under 21 from having any trace of alcohol in their systems.

Damage

  • A man reported scratches to his parked car shortly after noon Tuesday in the 100 block of North La Grange Road. There were no cameras in the area. The man said he would get an estimate on the damage and then file an insurance claim.
