Car Burglaries In La Grange Neighborhood: Cops
In another case, a local company suffered from identity theft that could have resulted in $30,000 to $40,000 in lost business, police said.

LA GRANGE, IL – In recent days, La Grange police handled cases involving car burglaries, identity theft, aggravated DUI, battery, theft, damage and disorderly conduct. Here is information from the latest La Grange police reports:
Car burglaries
- Someone stole items after breaking a window of a car in the 1000 block of South La Grange Road. The burglary was reported Sept. 9. In the same block, several windows and the steering column of a car were damaged in what was labeled a burglary Sept. 9. Two blocks away in the 900 block of Eighth Avenue, a parked car was reported vandalized Sept 10. It, too, was labeled a burglary.
Identity theft

- On Aug. 20, someone took over a victim's computer and disrupted his business, SP 48 Freight Inc., 639 S. La Grange Road. It may have cost the firm $30,000 to $40,000 in lost business. An investigation continues.
Aggravated DUI
- Anthony Martinez, 21, who lives in the 100 block of Bassford Avenue in La Grange, was arrested about 7:30 p.m. Sept. 6 in the 10 block of West Harris Avenue on charges of aggravated DUI, DUI (drugs), driving with a suspended or revoked license, reckless driving and failing to reduce speed.
Battery

- A 24-year-old who lives in the 10 block of East Avenue was arrested on a charge of battery. The charge was in connection with an incident about 10:30 p.m. Aug. 31.
Theft
- Pieces of a furnace unit were reported stolen Aug. 29 in a building in the 10 block of West Burlington Avenue. The replacement cost was estimated at $3,000.
- Prescription drugs were reported stolen Sept. 10 from a mailroom in a building in the 400 block of West Burlington Avenue.
- Building materials valued at more than $5,000 were reported stolen Sept. 17 from an apartment in the 10 block of West Burlington Avenue.
Damage
- A total of seven vehicles were reported damaged Sept. 3 in the parking lot of a business Gerber Collision & Glass, 300 Washington Ave.
Disorderly conduct
- A resident in the 100 block of Malden Avenue told police Sept. 3 that a phishing email asked her to send money to avoid having a video sent to all her contacts. She suffered no loss.
Stolen bicycle
- An unlocked bicycle valued at $550 was reported stolen Sept. 9 at Chipotle Mexican Grill, 40 N. La Grange Road.
