Chicago Sinfonietta presents Primal Instincts

The Chicago Sinfonietta presents a concert to trigger your primal instincts with an artistic musical expression.

The Chicago Sinfonietta has built a reputation as a widely-artistic orchestra with unique musical collaborations. Primal Instincts builds on that reputation with a guests artists including a Spanish bagpiper, the Roosevelt University CCPA conservatory Chorus and Anima, the Glen Ellyn Children’s Chorus. It’s this mix of traditional symphonic music and eclectic guest artists that makes the Chicago Sinfonietta a Chicago treasure.

For the next concert, Monday, May 23, the musical selections are artistic expressions of greed, passion, fate and love. How will these come to life? Through the music of BIZET (selections from Carmen Suites No. 1 and No. 2), SOLLA (A Galician Voyage:  Concerto for Bagpipes, piano & orchestra) and ORFF (Carmina Burana).

Conductor Mei-Ann Chen is a theatrical performer who brings the audience on stage. As the Chicago Sinfonietta’s Music Director, Conductor Chen continues founder Paul Freeman’s vision of diversity. Her vision includes not only diversity within the orchestra’s musicians. It also includes diversity with guest artists. ASCAP recognized this creativity with its Innovative programming award.
