Former Riverside Police Chief Thomas Weitzel Appointed as a Member of the Domestic Violence (Colton’s) Task Force

TASK FORCE PURPOSE

The Task Force shall: (1) conduct a comprehensive review of the process, operation, and enforcement of current domestic violence laws across the State; (2) identify gaps in the process, operation, and enforcement of those laws; (3) develop recommendations to address those gaps; and (4) establish a framework for specialized protective networks for victims, treatment options for victims and offenders, and specialty courts for the accumulation of specialized domestic violence skills for courts.

This is a Gubernatorial Appointment under 20 ILCS 4106

Chief Weitzel stated, “It is an honor to serve on the Domestic Violence (Colton’s) Task Force. It is my hope that this Task Force will make a substantial difference in regard to Illinois Domestic Violence laws, prevention, treatment and support for families affected by domestic violence.”
