LA GRANGE, IL – A clerk was knocked in the head with a gun during an armed robbery earlier this month in La Grange, police said.

Through a public records request, Patch obtained the police report in the Jan. 15 armed robbery of the 7-Eleven store at 9600 E. Ogden Ave. Patch first reported on the holdup last week.

The robber came in and displayed a silver handgun, police said. He demanded the clerks get on the floor, called them "m-----f------" and threatened to kill them if they got up, police said.

When the suspect was behind the counter, he struck one of the clerks in the back of the head, police said.

The man stole $270 in cash, an iPhone 11 Pro Max and the store's phone, the report said. The phones were later found in the parking lot.

The clerks described the man as black, having a medium build, and wearing a black jacket and a black mask. One said he was tall, while the other said he was about 5-foot-5, police said.

The clerks said they couldn't see much because they were facing the floor most of the time.

According to the report, a quick review of the footage showed the suspect to be white.

One of the witnesses believed the suspect to be black because of the way he talked and his use of the word "m-----f------," the report said.
