Cook County Coronarvirus: No Forest Preserve Events Until Mid-May
Trail users asked to keep a distance of six feet from others and step off paths if needed.
CHICAGO, IL — The Cook County Forest Preserve District is canceling all public events and volunteer activities and closing some locations through May 11, it announced in a news release this weekend. The locations include all public restrooms, nature centers, campgrounds, nature play areas, permit offices and the Swallow Cliff Stairs.
The forest preserve is advising that visitors keep a distance of six feet from other trail users at all times. They are asked to warn others on the trail of their presence and step off the trail when needed to maintain six feet of distance.
The spring trout season opening day — originally set for April 4 — has been postponed indefinitely.
