Cossitt School Students Selected for ACDA Children's Honor Choir

District 102 Students Perform at Palmer House Hilton, Chicago in the American Choral Directors Association Central Division Honor Choir

On Feb. 26, 28 fourth and fifth graders from Cossitt School in La Grange participated in the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) Central Division Children’s Honor Choir. These students were recommended by their music teacher to be a part of the Honor Choir, which included students from Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois. Students spent time outside of school learning and memorizing six challenging songs in English, Latin, Chinese and French. Students had an Honor Choir Day at the Palmer House Hilton, Chicago with renowned composer, arranger, music teacher and conductor Rollo Dilworth. A highlight of the day included meeting music teacher and arranger Emily Crocker. The students had the opportunity to sing her arrangement of J’entends Le Moulin and ask her questions about composing and arranging. Other selections sung by the students included: two selections from Magnificat (Et Exultavit), Moh Lee Hwah, The Duel, The Sky is Strung with Glory and Let Me Fly.

“It was wonderful to see the students interacting, making friends, and making music with children from different towns and states,” said Amanda Morris, music teacher at Cossitt School and Children’s Honor Choir chairperson. “The performance at the Grand Ballroom at the Palmer House Hilton Hotel was a highlight for all singers!”

Participating students from Cossitt School included: Seth Ahlm, Samantha Borkowski, Madeline Burger, Frances Chevalier, Sophia Cirolia, Kennedy Clarke, Ally Colantuono, Anne Dillon, Isabella Dravillas, Brooke Henrichs, Jenna Jenke, Charlotte Judy, Maggie Kachmarik, Luke Kleyweg, Grace Maciag, Ava Magliocco, Cami Menguy, Josie Menna, Ellie Moran, Julia Nierzwicka, Kieran Ross, Katelyn Rutkowski, Abigail Saunders, Hannah Schwartz, Kimi Shinsako, Isabella Tussing, Aliana Weber and Faustina Zabulionyte.
