Discussion About Coping With Grief During The Holidays

The Hitzeman Funeral Home in Brookfield will host.

BROOKFIELD, IL — A funeral home in Brookfield will again host a discussion about grief and losing a loved one. This time it will be focused on how to cope with the loss as the holiday season approaches.

Seats are limited for the event planned at the Hitzeman Funeral Home, 9445 W. 31st St. in Brookfield from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8.

"We know how losing a loved one affects the core of each family. Whether the passing is
sudden or after a long battle with illness, each soul has a story. And everyone has their own
way of coping with such a loss; sometimes, we don’t know how to start finding a way
through the fog of emotions and despair," the funeral home wrote in a memo announcing the planned discussion.

"The holidays are times we set aside to celebrate and spend time with family. After the death
of a loved one, this time of the year can be very difficult to manage. Watching others laugh
and rejoice in the spirit of the holidays when you might feel sad and overwhelmed can be
painful. It’s a true reminder of your loss and how much your life has changed. The first
holiday season without your loved one can be especially hard. In this discussion you will
learn strategies for coping with grief during the holidays. Hopefully these tips will help you
or someone you know who is grieving have a better experience."

Anyone who wishes to be part of the discussion should R.S.V.P. by Oct. 4 to info@hitzemanfuneral.com or by calling 708-485-2000.
