Enforce La Grange Rule Against Trucks: Official
The quarry has an "absurd" number of trucks on village streets, a trustee said.

LA GRANGE, IL – A La Grange trustee this week urged enforcement of the village's ban on drivers of large trucks using side streets.
At a Village Board meeting, Trustee Beth Augustine said a McCook quarry is up and running after a three-week pause and that an "absurd" number of trucks associated with the mine are using side streets.
The drivers are seeking to avoid trains and other traffic, she said.

Such trucks are limited to major streets such as La Grange Road, East Avenue, 47th Street and others, unless they're delivering to a house for a qualified reason, Augustine said.
"I've talked to the (police) chief about how we can work on enforcing this," Augustine said. "I'm excited about that prospect."

Members of a local Facebook group, she said, are taking photos of trucks that are breaking the rule.
The quarry in question is owned by Heidelberg Materials, formerly Hanson Aggregates.
In an email to Patch, Heidelberg spokesman Jeff Sieg said the trucks traveling to and from the quarry are third-party vehicles picking up customer orders and are not owned or operated by Heidelberg.
"We do provide instructions to truckers on routes to minimize any disruptions to traffic and the community in general," Sieg said. "While we cannot directly control the routes these trucks take, we will remind the drivers about the importance of following our guidelines and take additional steps to reinforce this on a regular basis."
